I would like all of you to always involve yourself and go beyond the academic aspect of school life especially when you begin the next chapter of your education.Įducation is a continuous process…. In short we are stressing the importance of a rounded education.
The push for a holistic education was made years ago but never as rapid as this academic year with numerous programmes and activities. NationalHigh has over the years been consistently churning out good academic results for our students who take overseas-based examinations such as the International Primary Six leaving Examination and the Cambridge International Examination at Secondary 4. More importantly, in a school the source that drives its students towards excellence in education is its software…and I am referring to your teachers….I know you will spend time with them after this, to show your appreciation. No matter how stylish they may look…they are but the hygiene factors of the school… While the physical development of the school can be clearly seen… constantly taking place in our school… recently, items like expansion projects to our extended outdoor canteen… our fabulous Student Council room to be named ‘The Hutchins Room’ and the various learning spaces in the school that are constantly being developed. The next group of important people to show appreciation to is your Mentor and teachers. Now it would be wrong to dismiss their kindness and as being ‘Part of parents’ duty’ Graduation day is a time not only to rest on your laurels and feel good of oneself…but just as important…to extend our appreciation to those who have made our success possible…Your parents have unselfishly devoted time and money to see that you are well provided for and if you think back they have never refused any of your requests to buy educational items or paraphernalia to enhance and further your education. Entry to overseas universities would be somewhat easier with a Junior College experience. I am glad to note that some of you have already decided to join us for the next stage of your formal education by enrolling for JC1 next year. With that the father answered ‘If you want it to look natural, why not have him put his hand in my pocket’ ‘Son’ she directed ‘put your arms around Dad’s shoulder’.
So she advised them….Let’s try to make this look natural. Mom noticed through her camera viewfinder that both looked a little stiff. It was graduation day and mom was trying to take a picture of her son in a cap and gown, posing with his father. Which brings to my mind this happening……. Whenever it is a good thing we all want to place it in the album for posterity. I guess all of you will be looking forward to the photo taking session, which is to follow soon after this ceremony is over. Not so long the completion of the Primary school or foundation years constituted your first… The completion of Secondary education is but another step in the educational path you seek.
To our grandaunts, who are occupying the front seats and looking so radiant this morning, I would like to congratulate you on a job well done! Coming this far shows a great deal of work and dedication on your part. To keep it short and simple, I shall not fail you in this respect. One thing is certain, from the point of view of the audience who wish to enjoy a read speech, the key is not to be boring and the other requirement is brevity. What bits of knowledge that I have obtained could I share. What words of wisdom could I possibly impart. I’ve spent some time trying to think of what it is I would like to share with you this special morning. William Yiu, our Guest-of-Honor and Chairman of the Board of Governors… Honorable members of the school community, our Board of Trusties…Ms Daisy Yiu our Board of Management…Members of the faculty, parents, guests and grandaunts,Ī very good morning to you… Today is a very special day for our Secondary 4 grandaunts.
